Experts Sherry Elliott, FACMPE
Sherry Elliot is Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Operations for the Department of Radiology at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. She has been a Board Member At Large of the Medical Group Management Agency (MGMA) for 4 years. Elliott brings to the PortBlue collaboration more than 20 years of practice-related experience, including certification as a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE). She has published articles on capitation and benchmarking, and has presented topics on financial and clinical productivity, the resource-based relative value scale (RBRVS), and physician compensation. Elliott has long been involved with the MGMA, most recently as a Board Member at Large. She holds an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.

M. Pike is a graduate of Emory University and the Medical College of
Georgia. He subsequently continued his training in Internal Medicine at
the University of Texas Health Science Center, Dallas (Parkland
Memorial Hospital, Dallas VAMC, Southwestern Medical School). He
remained at UTHSCD for his Gastroenterology fellowship. Dr.
Pike joined Gastroenterology Consultants, LTD in Virginia Beach,
Virginia in 1983 following completion of his fellowship.
Gastroenterology Consultants, Ltd. is now a division of
Gastrointestinal and Liver Specialists of Tidewater, PLLC, a
23-physician group. He served as its president and continues as a
member of its Board of Managers. Dr. Pike also serves a role as a
healthcare executive. He has been employed by Sentara Healthcare; a six
hospital integrated healthcare delivery system in Southeastern Virginia
since 1994. He has worked in many areas of the system including
insurance, operations, re-engineering and strategic planning. As
Sentara's medical director for physician education he developed a two
year curriculum for business education for practicing physicians.
Currently he is Vice President of Medical Affairs at Sentara Bayside
Hospital. Dr. Pike has written and lectured on gastroenterology
practice management. He has over eighteen years experience in running
an office-based endoscopy unit. He currently serves as the chairman of
the American College of Gastroenterology's Practice Management
Committee. He is the current chairman of the American Society for
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy's Ambulatory Endoscopy Special Interest
group and recently co-chaired the American College of Gastroenterology
and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy's joint taskforce
for developing Endoscopic Quality Indicators. Dr. Pike and his
wife Randy have two children, Sarah and Mark. Dr. Pike's
non-professional interests include photography, hiking, fishing and
travel with his family. |
